Migration News: November 16-22, 2013

  • La Opinión reported that declassified from the U.S. government revealed that massacres of migrants carried out in Mexico from 2010-2012 were allowed to take place as a result of inaction by the Mexican authorities. (La Opinión)
  • The Institute for Women in Migration (IMUMI), called on the U.S. and Mexican governments to take actions to address the issues of the challenges facing migrants, such as the separation of families, and provide the necessary information to allow migrants to exercise their rights. (Yancuic)
  • Animal Político reported on the nine actions to take for families separated by migration policies published in a report by the Institute for Women in Migration (IMUMI). (Animal Político)
  • Mexico’s Secretary of the Interior (SEGOB) announced it would engage in public consulting forums to produce proposals on the elaboration of the Special Migration Program, 2014-2018. (Azteca noticias)
  • Mexico’s National Migration Institute (INM) reported that Mexican authorities discovered 200 undocumented migrants, 39 of whom were minors, the majority of whom were from Central America, but also from India and Ecuador. (AFP)
